For full disclosure; know that I am a man who gave this book to a woman who loves to cook and bake. She is particularly intrigued by old English and American Colonial recipes. I have given her many recipe books from the old colonial taverns in NYC, Phila., Savannah, and Charleston. Also of course the cookbooks from Mount Vernon (by Martha Washington), and Jefferson's Monticello.She liked the recipes in this book, but thought them a bit sweet or sugary. But upon reflection realized that sugar was an expensive ingredient and so was probably emphasized to show wealth and social stature.
Again. the above is just hearsay; as I am repeating what I have been told by she who must be obeyed.
